American Airlines launches flights from Miami to La Romana
On December 5. American Airlines, in partnership with Miami-Dade County leaders and the Dominican Republic Tourism Board, celebrated the inaugural flight from Miami International Airport (MIA) to La Romana (LRM) in the Dominican Republic. The historic flight further strengthens American’s industry-leading network to Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America.
The new La Romana route joins more than 415 peak daily flights to more than 155 destinations from MIA and comes just in time for the winter holiday travel season when the airline will run its largest-ever schedule with more seats and flights than ever before from Miami.
Miami International Airport, America’s busiest airport for international freight and the second busiest for international passengers, is receiving an unprecedented investment of $14 billion in capital improvements and maintenance upgrades. MIA offers more flights to Latin America and the Caribbean than any other U.S. airport and is also the leading economic engine for Miami-Dade County and the state of Florida, generating business revenue of $212 billion and approximately 60 percent of all international visitors to Florida annually.
