January 2025 Employees of the Month: Lost purse with $5,000 gets reunited with grateful passenger
On a recent Friday, Department of Homeland Security Officer Adrian Powell was walking through Miami International Airport’s Dolphin garage when he found an unattended purse. He immediately called the Miami-Dade Aviation Department’s Landside Division to report it and Landside Officer Norbert Bielecki responded. When they inspected the contents of the purse to find the owner’s identity, they found a driver’s license and something else - close to $5,000. When they took the purse to MIA’s Lost and Found Office, the attendant there found $402 more hidden in a zipper inside the purse. The owner of the purse was extremely grateful to these employees and asked that they be recognized.
Because of Powell and Bielecki’s trustworthiness and concern for the passenger who lost their purse, they were named MIA’s January 2025 Employees of the Month.
