Mapping a seamless travel journey at MIA

From the curb to the cabin, Miami International Airport has been introducing cutting-edge technology at each of its customer touchpoints that is simplifying and streamlining the passenger journey. Maurice Jenkins, who was recently appointed Digital Strategy and Innovation Advisor for the Miami-Dade Aviation Department (MDAD), shares his thoughts on how MIA has been creating a more seamless travel experience in the current issue of International Airport Review magazine.

Jenkins, who also serves as MDAD’s Chief Innovation Officer, functions as the principal advisor to the Aviation Department Director on all matters related to information management and information technology. He has served in this capacity since September 2000, when he was named Division Director for Information Systems and Telecommunications. Jenkins is responsible for defining and managing capital planning as well as investment management processes to ensure their successful implementation and integration with the department budget, acquisition, and planning processes.

Jenkins has served as the chairman of the Business Information Technology Committee (BIT), which was established by Airports Council International (ACI) to set strategic objectives and future technology direction for airports.  He was also responsible for forming the Florida Airports Council’s Information Technology Committee and served as its chairman.  Jenkins has given presentations on implementation solutions to key IT leaders for IATA (International Air Transport Association) and airport IT conferences in the U.S. and internationally.

Jenkins graduated from the University of Miami with a bachelor’s degree in business and computer information systems. He also earned certifications in strategic management from FIU and human resource management from Nova Southeastern University.
