Men and women in blue go pink at MIA

Dozens of men and women in blue went pink at Miami International Airport on October 6 to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Miami-Dade County’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign. Officers and vehicles from the Miami-Dade Police Department’s Airport District and municipal police departments across Miami-Dade County gathered at MIA’s custom-painted, pink-ribboned B727 training aircraft parked near LeJeune Road and N.W. 31st Street for a group photo to raise awareness for the cause.

In 2019, the Miami-Dade Aviation Department (MDAD) raised $32,000 for MSABC, making it one of the campaign’s top fundraisers nationally. After scaling back efforts in 2020 due to the pandemic, MDAD is ramping up with its sister departments once again to fight the deadly disease.

This year’s MSABC Walk will be held on October 23 at Loan Depot Park (formerly Marlins Park).
