MIA welcomes Chinese aviation students through new partnership

Airport and Wayman Aviation host first tour for students from Shanghai

On February 7, the Miami-Dade Aviation Department (MDAD) hosted a tour of Miami International Airport for 37 aviation students from Shanghai’s Chiway Education Group, as part of the airport’s new partnership with Wayman American Flight Training. Based at Miami-Opa locka Executive Airport since 1987, Wayman Aviation provides flight training to students from South Florida, Latin America and the Caribbean, and is owned by Chiway Holding Group, a large Chinese education group that owns and operates schools in China and Singapore.

MDAD representatives provided the Chiway students - ages 13 to 15 years old – with a hands-on tour of the MIA passenger experience from check-in to boarding, as well as the airport’s expansive cargo area and private jet operations. MDAD will continue to host MIA tours for Chiway students during the week-long camps organized by Wayman Aviation.

We are proud to partner with Wayman Aviation on these educational tours for young aviation enthusiasts from China. As the gateway of the Americas for both passengers and cargo, and the home for more airlines than any other U.S. airport, MIA offers many unique lessons for future aviators not found anywhere else in the world. We are also excited to begin welcoming students from a region of the world where we soon expect to establish our first-ever nonstop passenger route.
