Sweet dreams are made by these local students

MIA hosts online-only art exhibition featuring surreal images by students grades K-12

You don’t have to travel the world and the seven seas to view Miami International Airport’s newest Children’s Gallery art exhibition. In fact, you don’t even have to leave your home.

The airport’s Division of Fine Arts & Cultural Affairs has partnered with Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ Division of Life Skills & Special Projects to host Dream Imagery: Sweet Dreams Are Made of These!, an online-only exhibition of works by Miami-Dade County Public School students in grades K through 12.

Miami-Dade County Public School students involved in the project were free to fantasize and invent fantastic images, exploring the use of dreams and imagination as the springboard for their artistic, otherworldly creations. This digital exhibition features artwork that adheres to the dreamlike qualities of Surrealism and Symbolism and illustrates how, through the use of bizarre imagery and unexpected juxtapositions, even the most ordinary can be transformed into something creative, mysterious and exciting.
Gendry Sherer, Fine Arts & Cultural Affairs Division Director

The Children’s Gallery at MIA was established in 2001 to host curated rotating exhibitions featuring artwork by local students, in partnership with the Visual & Performing Arts Program at M-DCPS.

If you still want to visit MIA’s in-person exhibitions while traveling, who are we to disagree? Visit our MIA Galleries webpage to see the diverse options now on display throughout the airport. We try to have something for everyone - because we know everybody’s looking for something.
