MIA welcomes exclusive American Airlines service to Ocho Rios

On February 24, Miami International Airport welcomed the first commercial service from the U.S. to Ocho Rios, Jamaica by American Airlines, marking its third destination in Jamaica. Officials from Miami-Dade County, American Airlines, the Jamaica Tourist Board, and the Consul General of Jamaica in Miami hosted a ribbon-cutting event to mark the historic flight from MIA to Ian Fleming International Airport (OCJ). MIA is the first U.S. airport with service to Ocho Rios and American is the only U.S. carrier to offer nonstop service from MIA to OCJ, giving travelers access to the popular destination just in time for spring break.

We are thrilled to be the only U.S. airport with nonstop service to Ocho Rios, and to also have Kingston and Montego Bay within our Jamaica route network. Jamaica continues to be one of MIA’s busiest international markets, generating 600,000 travelers annually. With spring break just around the corner and summer vacations coming soon, we look forward to welcoming thousands of passengers traveling between Ocho Rios and Miami-Dade.

The new service to Ocho Rios complements service from MIA to Kingston (KIN) and Montego Bay (MBJ), as well as 45 unique destinations direct from MIA to Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America. On February 3, American launched new nonstop service from MIA to Governor’s Harbour, Bahamas (GHB).

American Airlines is making history today and we’re proud to provide exclusive access to this Caribbean paradise so our customers can experience its white sand, waterfalls, rich culture and opportunities for relaxation and adventure. As Miami’s Hometown Airline, we are thrilled to continue expanding our network across the Caribbean and to more than 150 destinations worldwide.

As the airline’s robust international schedule grows, American is operating its largest schedule on record at MIA with 390 peak-day flights this winter.
